It is now official that the U23 tournament will be played the 12-13 of March 2011 in MunktellArena on Felt. This is the same course where the European Cup was played in 2008.
The invited teams this year is Austria, Finland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the home nation Sweden. The Tournament is played with mixed 4-men teams in a winning-the-lane modus. The participants shall be born 1988 or later but there might be exception up to the age of 29 years if the player haven’t been playing in any national Team under 2009-2010.
The Tournament has been played since 2005 but this is the first time it will be played in Sweden. It was a strong wish from the participant nations to play on Felt to get good practice on a felt in a strong competitive environment.

No there's no limitation on how much "young" you are. The only limitation is on how much "old" you are (23 years, or 29 if you have not played any world or european championship in the last two year).
Of course, this is not a tournament open to all players: it concerns national teams so you have to be selected by you federation to play it :) |

in the competition?.... |

14 Dec 2010 at 10:57 | Finland was invited this time because Italy wants to send only one team and so the number of teams would be only nine instead of the planned ten. For Finland the distance is now doable, usually the costs for a participation would be too high.
Switzerland is definitely going to be there, unless something changed during the last days as Paolo said.
I hope Finland really can participate, the federation has showed green light, but of course financing and other details are still open. I believe we can give our final answer as promised until the end of the year and hope it will be positive. |

13 Dec 2010 at 19:32 | Also Switzerland should be there...probably a mistake in the article? |

13 Dec 2010 at 09:31 | I think the invited countries are those interested in this tournament. This is not a WMF-related event so it is arranged by the participating countries.
We were interested in taking part in it and in 2008 we asked to WMF how to do to participate, they suggested to contact the team responsible for U-23 tournament and after that we started taking part in it.
I guess that if there's any other country interested in this tournament they could do the same procedure we did 2 years ago and they will be invited too... |
