Boris Arzuffi closes the Italian season with a victory in Vedano

Italy 14 Dec 2010 at 00:01 | Published by:  | Views: 9728 | News search

Boris Arzuffi closes the Italian season with a victory in Vedano The indoor 100% concrete course in Vedano al Lambro hosted the 5th edition of "International Trophy Città di Vedano", last tournament of the Italian season.

110 players took part in this tournament, that was also the last one valid for the Italian national ranking 2010.
The program of the tournament was as follows:
- 3 qualification rounds for all players on Saturday
- 2 more rounds on Sunday for the best 50% players of each category
- 1 final round for the top 3 players of each category.

As usual, Vedano course offers some very low results and also this time 22 blue rounds have been played.

The elite men category showed a very close match between different players for the final victory. At the end of the 3 qualification rounds the leader was Paolo Porta (MGC Novi Ligure) with a total of 73 strokes (23-27-23), two better than Luca Dellasega (MC Predazzo), three better than Boris Arzuffi (MT Amatese).
The two rounds on Saturday offered the comeback from Claudio Santopietro (GSP Cusano), which waa 5th with 78 strokes. With 2x 24 he got the lead before the final rounds with a total of 126 strokes. The other two players that got the pass for the final rounds were Boris Arzuffi and Paolo Porta, both with 128 strokes.
Luca Picciali (MC I Basilischi Milano) and Luca Dellasega just missed the cut respectively with 129 and 131 strokes.
On the final round, Boris Arzuffi was able to close the gap with Claudio, scoring a 24. Claudio scored a 26 and has to go to a playoff that Boris won at lane 2.
Paolo Porta scored also a 26 and got the 3rd place of the podium. Total score of 152 strokes for Claudio and Boris, 154 for Paolo.

The elite ladies category was dominated by Anna Bandera (GSP Cusano) that won with a total score of 159 strokes (equalizing also the ladies course record with 22 strokes), 12 better than Sara Marchiani (GSP Cusano) and 13 better than Claudia Baio (MC Monza).

Another big performance in the senior category, where Pierluigi Marchiani (GSP Cusano) dominated with the third best overall score, 154 strokes. Also in this category we have a big gap between the winner and the rest of players : Cesare Crespi (MC Monza) was 2nd with 166 strokes, Luigi Denari (MMC Paderno) third with 169 strokes.

GSP Cusano collected victories also in the other categories: Emanuele Prestinari won the youth category with 166 strokes and Lauretta Prina won the senior ladies category with 177 strokes.

GSP Cusano didn't miss also the team tournament victory. The team made by Claudio Santopietro, Pierluigi Marchiani, Emanuele Prestinari and Andrea Origgi scored a total of 323 strokes, 3 better than MC Basilischi Milano that probably regrets having put out of the team his best player, Luca Picciali. GSP Cusano completed the podium also with its second team, that beated MT Amatese at playoff for 3rd place.

The winner of the Italian national rankings 2010 are Paolo Porta (MGC Novi Ligure) and Anna Bandera (GSP Cusano). This is the 6th victory in a row in the national ranking for Paolo (that wins it every year since 2005), the first time for Anna.

The minigolf course in Vedano will host next month the prestigious "10 rounds pair marathon" with a lot of player coming from many countries (Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Portugal, Czech Republic...)
