That would be excellent. I've been leveraging the BMGA site for information about individual tournament but would love a season long wrap-up!

Women Player of the Year 2011: Interview with Bianca Zodrow

Interview with Bianca Zodrow (BZ), Germany and Göttingen

This interview was done the 8th of March 2012. Interviewer is Hans Bergström (HB).

HB: First of all congratulations to a great season of 2011 which lead to the vote for “Woman player of the Year” on Minigolfnews. Did you expect to win the vote?

BZ: I have completely not thought about that. Therefore it was a great surprise, that I won the voting. And I am happy about that :).

HB: You won both the public vote and the expert jury vote. Which of them do you value the most?

BZ: Actually the public voting. It is very very nice to know that my performance will be honoured by most of our players. But that the experts also see me ahead pleased me as well.

HB: Looking back on Stockholm, do you think the very close losing of the Gold in stroke play made you extra motivated in the match play?

BZ: The disappointment over the loss of gold was so great, that I did not think about the match play. Because of that I had no goals and no extra motivation for the match play. I only tried to focus on my play, without thinking about the possibility to win the championship.

HB: When we talked to you in December you were quite critical to the few round of team play in Stockholm. Now the WMF TC has decided to change to 8 rounds of team play but still only in 2 days. What do you think about this change?

BZ: Each round more is definitely better, much more equitable and justify the effort we invest. For me it is ok to play much more rounds.

HB: So how do you feel about the upcoming season? Will it be possible to find the motivation after a year of total success such as last year?

BZ: I feel fine. Everything is as usual. I just try to have fun playing minigolf and enjoy being part of my teams. That is what I need. I like it!!!

HB: How does your season planning look like for 2012?

BZ: Becoming European Team-Champion with both, men and women, playing the European Cup with MGC Göttingen and having lots of fun!

HB: There is currently an ongoing poll for “Men player of the Year”. Who will get the high points in this vote from you?

BZ: Walter and Harald Erlbruch

HB: Again a big congratulation to the title “Women player of the year” and good luck in the future.

BZ: Thank you! And, thanks a lot to all, who voted for me!!! This is a great honour! All the best for the minigolf players in the coming season. I hope that everyone will achieve, what he/she set out to achieve (but, the European Team-Champion is still awarded;-)). And, of course, a lot of health!
