The first day of 2012 Italia League has been played last weekend in Cusano Milanino, miniaturegolf system.
The tournament has been played on a very rainy day, but thanks to the tents placed by Italian minigolf Federation all lanes could be covered and played in dry and almost perfect conditions.
It seems that nothing has changed since last year. The male team of GSP Vergiate and the ladies team of GSP are again the best after this first day.
Nevertheless, the male competition should be more interesting and balanced in the past, because of an important club transfer: one of the top Italian players of the last 10 years, Paolo Porta, is now playing these team events with GSP Cusano. (In Italy the rules allow clubs to borrow players only for the team events).
With this transfer, GSP Cusano surely expects to be more competitive and started the home event with the hope to win it.
After the first rounds this seemed to be possible, with the home team leading the way and GSP Vergiate only 4th. But in the next rounds the big experience of Vergiate players, bronze medalists at the last European Team Cup, allowed the team to get the first place that they were able to defend until the end of the tournament.
GSP Cusano, seeing that they could not win the match, lost a little bit of concentration and ended 3rd, overtaken also by MC Monza by just one stroke.
Just out of the podium, MT Amatese was also very close to the other 3 teams.
The other two teams, MC Basilischi and GSP Sebino could not have any chance to compete with the best 4 teams.
Here the final ranking of the men event:
1 G.S.P.VERGIATE 147 136 139 135 557 23,2
2 M.C. MONZA 145 141 143 135 564 23,5

6 G.S.P. SEBINO 181 162 170 159 672 28,0
