Today the 2012 European Championships in Porto started. In perfect weather for Minigolf the team competition started with two double rounds on beton and eternit.
In the ladies competition Sweden is in the lead after the first day with 296 strokes, one ahead of Holland on second position. Austria is third another 5 shots behind and Germany is fourth one stroke from bronze position.
Individually Czech Jana Nakladalova has started best with 93 strokes. In the morning she made a racer start on beton with 22 strokes. In second position just one stroke behind is the Swedish ladies Sandra Bengtsson and Sara Karlsson.
In the men’s completion there is a dead race between the two favorites Germany and Sweden. Both this teams have 570 and chasing not far behind is Italy and Austria on 580. Still all this four can win all medals and one of them will be left without tomorrow.
Individually the man of the day was absolutely Germanys Achim Braungart-Zink. With was must be an unofficial world record over two double rounds of beton and eternite, 20-22-20-22 he leads by a huge margin of eight strokes. His 22-22 = 44 on beton is a new official world record. The former was held by Francesco Leuci, Italy of 45 from Lamego in 2009.
In second position we have a tie between Swedish team mates Filiph Svensson and Ulf Kristiansson.
