Gold to Berger-Rella and Ziegler in Austrian championships Herbert Ziegler won Austrian championships 2008 at the eternite course of Wieselburg, taking the first gold medal in his career, with average score 20.17.

Silver medalist Heinz Weber lost 3 points to the winner, with average 20.42. Forever young Christian Freilach took bronze with average 20.50, one point behind Weber, and one point ahead of Manfred Lindmayr in fourth place. Also places 5 – 8 went to internationally known players: Philipp Albrechtsberger, Markus Berger, Robert Konrad and Christian Gobetz.

In women’s competition Elisabeth Berger-Rella renewed her Austrian champion title of last year, with average score 21.50. Elisabeth Gruber took silver with average 21.83, losing 4 points to the winner. A rising talent Elfriede Andrasch got bronze with average 22.17, 4 points behind Gruber, and safely 10 points ahead of Michaela Auer and Manuela Osterkorn in fourth and fifth place.
