WMF has published the invitation of minigolf World Championships 2009, which will be played 19–22 August in Odense, Denmark. WMF Media Manager Willy Bauer explains the situation:

“Dear minigolf friends,

WMF was informed at 04th March 2009 officially by the Dansk Minigolf Union, that the budget problems by the organizer for the WC 2009 in Odense / Denmark are finally solved.

During the period of uncertainty since 31st January 2009 the WMF Executive Committee worked on all available options to guarantee any WC in the current year by plan B or plan C. The official minutes of a phone meeting of the WMF Executive Committee of 4th February 2009 was already distributed by WMF secretary general Dr. Roger Cadosch last days. Other consultations have been taken as well.

The World Championships 2009 now can take place as indoor competition in the sport dome of Odense Congress Center as planned from 19th to 22th August 2009.“

The competition will be similar as in 2007 and 2008: 32 best men and 16 best women after 3 competition days qualify to the knock-out cup finals, which are played on the fourth competition day.
