Uppsala takes firm grip on the title

Sweden 14 Jun 2009 at 21:16 | Published by: Hans | Views: 7052 | News search

Uppsala takes firm grip on the title By winning all matches on the beton course in Skoghall this weekend Uppsala takes a firm grip on the Elitserien title of 2009. Before this weekend speculations about how Uppsala would do without two of their best players C-J Ryner and Marcus Larsson circulated. Anders Olsson (26,3) and Thomas Pölder (27,4) lead the way for Uppsala by being best and second best overall.

Already in the first match, against Tantogården, Uppsala set the pace for the weekend by winning 135 to 151 lead by Thomas Pölder who delivered a 23. After that Uppsala won the rest of the matches, some of them with quite small margin like the 2 strokes margin in the last match against Jönköping. In the first round in Örebro Jönköping lost by only one stroke against Uppsala, so the margins have so far been on Uppsalas side. Jönköping is still second in the table after delivering 5 wins and two losses.

After that first match, against Uppsala, Tantogården get their play together and won the rest of the matches by playing the last six matches with the average of 139 even a couple of strokes better than Uppsala. After a disappointing weekend in Örebro it was now time for Tantos Austrian newcomer, Markus Berger, to present himself in Elitserien. After playing better and better during the weekend Markus shared the second best individual with Thomas Pölder.

The team of the week was:
Anders Olsson, Uppsala (26,3); Thomas Pölder, Uppsala (27,4); Marcus Berger, Tantogården (27,4); Jonas Gustavsson, Jönköping (27,7) and Gustav Björnberg, Tantogården (27,9).

Standings in the league after two of three rounds.

1 Uppsala BGK 14 13 0 1 2141 26
2 BGK Jönköping 14 10 0 4 2193 20
3 Tantogården BGK 14 8 1 5 2257 17
4 Skoghalls BGK 14 8 1 5 2280 17
5 Södertälje BGK 14 5 2 7 2312 12
6 Örebro BGK 14 3 1 10 2373 7
-------------------------------------------
7 Gullbergsbro BGK 14 3 1 10 2377 7
8 Kungälv BGK 14 3 0 11 2369 6

Last round is played in Jönköping on eternit in the end of July.

Maybe BA has not updated the software according to the new rules. But as Pasi said, the individual list in the teamplay are only there to be able to calculate new ranking and HCP on all players.

I am quite sure that in this competition the individual rankings are not too important and the list is not made according to the official criteria.

The individual score list separates players with same score to different ranks, (according to diff I guess). I thought that Sweden no longer uses the diff rules. Maybe I have misunderstood something, or then this individual result list is not fully official.
