Japanese Championships 2009 were played as a combination tournament E + F, at the felt course of Shukutoku College on 26 April, and at Yokohama eternite course on 10 May.

Top four in women’s competition were the same players that formed team Japan at Vaasa E+F World Championships 2001. In the same order as seen in the official team photo of 2001, from right to left:

1.   130   (E+F average 32.50)   Seioko KATO
2.   138   (E+F average 34.50)   Akiko MOTEGI
3.   153   (E+F average 38.25)   Hitomi INOUE YOSHIOKA
4.   155   (E+F average 38.75)   Yuki KOSHIMURA
5.   156   (E+F average 39.00)   Momoko YOSHIDA
6.   184   (E+F average 46.00)   Riyoko FUJIWARA

Top 6 in men’s competition consisted mostly of internationally less well known players:
