There are about 300 recesses on one golf ball, and thanks to them, the ball flies three times farther than a smooth one. ... Balls of the same size...

Brown and Weaver in pole positions

Sweden 17 Jul 2009 at 19:33 | Published by: Hans | Views: 6748 | News search

Brown and Weaver in pole positions Lars Brown, Uppsala, is a bit surprisingly in the lead of the Swedish Championships after 10 of 12 rounds. With a superb 3rd day with only blue results 27, 19, 24, 19 he is leading the men's class by 4 strokes in front of Pierre Zetterlund, Tantogården. These two are in a class of their own and Pierre is 6 strokes in front of Fredrik Persson, Marcus Larsson and Linus Sundström which all has 249 in third positions.

In the ladies class Sandra Weaver, Jönköping, took the lead by scoring 95 strokes today. By that she is in the lead by 3 strokes in front of chasing Karin Wiklund, Uppsala on 258. In third position is Jessica Rengbrandt another 3 behind Karin.

Tomorrow there are only two rounds left since lap 9 and 10 was played this afternoon due to possibility of bad weather tomorrow. Generally the results where lower on this the third day, maybe due to perfect conditions in the weather.

The team competition was finished at noon today. Not any big surprises that the medallist should be Uppsala (Anders Olsson, Marcus Larsson and Lars Brown) gold, Jönköping silver and Kungälv bronze.

The leaders in the rest of the categories are:

Oldtimer ladies: Linda Lundberg, Gullbergsbro (266)
Oldtimers men: Jan-Åke Persson, Sjöviken (253)
Junior boys: Filiph Svensson, Skoghall (257)
Junior girls: Frida Elmdahl, Växjö, (281)

I don't think of Lars as a slow player... no worse than anyone else. And probably quicker than many. I have played in the triple behind Lars the SM and he has not been slow at all. As for European Cup 2008, it is my opinion that in order to get a warning for time you had to be Swedish and not slow. But hey, even the ref got a warning for time (at the awards banquet).

How fast is Brown playing?

He was the fastest player on earth two years ago, but in Tampere 2008 he was much slower than usually, and at European Cup 2008 he actually got a warning for breaking the time limit.

It's a tight competition in many classes where the really amazing game is so far not present. In the men’s class its Pierre Zetterlund of Tantogården who has the lead by one stroke landing on 148 after having the best overall average on felt (28.0) but a more ...
