Casper Fredriksen, Putter Team Odense, showed that his performance in the youth world cup in Budapest last year was not a single occasion. Competing with a bunch of hungry Swedish junior wolfs the Dane took a surprising bronze medal. His game was consistent especially on eternit where he was the best of all juniors with an average of 21,0.
A foreigner winning a medal (or actually placing on medal positions since the medals itself can only be given to Swedish citizens) is a rare thing in Swedish Minigolf history. Minigolf news can only find that it has happen 3 times before. In 1994 Jan Lyö, also from Denmark won silver in the Swedish Championships on eternit. In 1999 Petra Baumgartner (nowadays Szablikowski), Germany won silver in the ladies eternit and in 2004 Hans Prescher from Germany won bronze in the men’s veterans’ class on eternit. This is actually the first time a non Swede takes a medal on a championship played on the Swedish Felt.
