There are about 300 recesses on one golf ball, and thanks to them, the ball flies three times farther than a smooth one. ... Balls of the same size...

Photos and first impressions from Odense

Photos and first impressions from Odense

After two days of training for World Championships 2009 at Fyn Arena in Odense, many players have noticed that indoor courses don’t always guarantee easy weather conditions. Relatively high temperature in the stadium, with quite sticky humidity in the air, is not the easiest possible weather to play in.

Sweden’s head coach Jan Strandberg estimates that the felt course gives hole-in-ones quite generously, but also includes some difficult lanes. Both minigolf courses have some lanes where uncertain players can easily get 7 points, so the score differences may become quite dramatic between the top players and the bottom of scoreboard.

These and more photos available now in the gallery section.

First impression from Odense is that the felt course is quite difficult, at least for me that I play on felt once every 3-4 years.
In my opinion, a bit too much difficult considering that we have several countries with very small felt attitude (when not at all). On this course a lot of players can score 7 points in many lanes and that's not so good for a World Championship, expecially when we have some spectators.
The eternite course is not bad, but with some eventul lanes like blitz.
And a lane which in my opinion has not much sense...the inclined hole without V obstacle. There you can see quite bad shots go in, but often you play an almost perfect shot, you just touch the hole and lose all chances...
Actually I would be happy to play 23 on eternite and 34 on felt...hope to improve during next two training days...
