Old foxes conquer 30 h marathon

Switzerland 12 Nov 2007 at 09:15 | Published by: JJM | Views: 6851 | News search

Old foxes conquer 30 h marathon International stars of the past millennium stole the show in Swiss 30 h Marathon, which is played annually at Bassersdorf indoor 80% beton course (also known as Grindel-Kloten).

Joachim Sturm of Germany (bronze at World Champs 1991 & 1993) and Michael Neuland (silver 1989, bronze 1984 & 1995) stormed onto second place of the competition, leaving behind a multitude of today’s international top players.

The winning pair of the tournament, by a devastating win margin of 21 points, was Swiss ranking no. 1 Vitus Spescha, with Guy Vuilliomenet (Swiss national team member in World Champs 1993 and Junior Champs 1990 & 1991).

Third place was taken by current Swiss national team members Raphael Wietlisbach and Remo Zaugg.

The best all-female team fought their way to 6th rank: Nicole Gundert-Greiffendorf (bronze medalist at World Champs 2007) with World Champion 1993 Alice Kobisch.
