Mees Bouwman leads after first day Dutch Matchplay Champs Under very good circumstances the Dutch Matchplay Championship started yesterday in Meppel.
Six of eight rounds were played to see who goes into the finals as favorites. In the mens class Huub Bottenberg (Drachten) is the strongest player with 131 strokes. The second place is shared by Lourens Zwarts (Appelscha) and former European Senior Champion Henk Goris (Bennekom).

In the womens class Annie Jasper (Leeuwarden) is by far the strongest with 148 strokes before Mechelina Berentsen (Wageningen) with 166 strokes.

The best player of the first dayis to be found at the men seniors. Mees Bouwman (Bennekom) is 'from another planet' with 126 strokes (av. 21,00). On the second place we will find Wilbert van Helmond (Doorwerth) with 137 strokes and on the third place a big surprise, Dirk Jan Staalstra (Leeuwarden) with 140 strokes.

Elly Mulder (Wageningen) leads the womens seniors with 147 strokes before Lies de Nennie (Doorwerth) and Petra Tenge (Leeuwarden) with 153 and 156 strokes.

Today, Sunday, 2 preliminary rounds will be played whereafter the matchplay finals will take place.
