Last Sunday the fifth round of the LHK was played on the felt course of Appelscha.
It was warm and sunny weather, which made the course a little bit more tricky. When MGC Geldrop 1 would win this weekend it would be the new Champion of 2010. The home team, MGC Appelscha, is at the second place in the competition, and of course they knew they had a big chance to win this round.
The first round was won by Appelscha with 121 strokes before Geldrop 1 and the surprising team of Duno (Doorwerth) with 124 strokes. During the second round Geldrop 1 made a very good round of 113 strokes and took the lead over Appelscha. This team ended this round with 125 strokes. Duno had a difficult round and dropped down with 138 strokes.
The third round Appelscha showed that they were not beaten yet and won again with 121 strokes. Now Geldrop 1 had a tough round with 133 strokes.
The last round showed some good scores. There were three teams with the same score of 119 strokes. That were Appelscha, Duno and De Putters (Bennekom). This was too much for Geldrop 1 that ended the match with 126 strokes.
Appelscha won this weekend with 486 strokes before Geldrop 1 with 496 strokes. With this result Geldrop 1 is not yet officially champion, but they just need one more point in the last match. The big surprise was the third place for Duno with 512 strokes.
The best personal scores were made by the senior players Wilbert van Helmond (Duno) and Roel Groenhuijsen (Hoe Ridders) with 114 strokes before Andre van Vliet (Appelscha) with 115 strokes.
The last match will be played on june 20 on the eternite course of Duno (Doorwerth).
