Riku & Kosti win 20th Finnish Marathon

Finland 14 Feb 2008 at 09:59 | Published by: JJM | Views: 7177 | News search

Riku & Kosti win 20th Finnish Marathon Roberto Garbui of Italy opened with a perfect 18-round in Finnish Marathon 2008, but the Italian superstars soon had to give up the first place to local favourites Riku Pennanen & Kosti Salonen.

Riku ensured victory for his team with an ice-cold score 21.08 after 13 competition rounds, including 8 consecutive rounds with an average score 19.75.

The best player of the weekend was Harry Grönlund, however, with 0.01 points better average 21.07 after 14 competition rounds. His excellent score includes 12 misses on lane 4, a relatively narrow “sand box” (also called “ladders” or “double wedges”).

The best female player of the competition was the reigning Finnish champion Mirva Juhola, with a fine average score 23.55 after 11 competition rounds.

The defending Finnish Marathon winners 2007, Pasi Aho & Kari Kulmala, were left on 3rd place, behind Roberto Garbui & Rudi Giroldini on 2nd place. Some occasional misfortunes, such as 7 points at the “cannon”, did not stop Kari & Pasi from enjoying the game and fighting for a good standing in the competition.

More than 500 unique visitors browsed our website during the weekend, as we published the results live hole after hole, and streamed the action with four live webcams.
