Hardenberg will not start at the European Cup in Vienna

Germany 10 Sep 2010 at 08:58 | Published by: Hans | Views: 9530 | News search

Hardenberg will not start at the European Cup in Vienna Last years winners of the European Cup, BGS Hardenberg-Pötter, will not start at this years European Cup played in Vienna. The organizers got this sad news already before the Predazzo event in August.

On a question from Minigolfnews Willy Bauer, Media Manager W.A.T.21 says: "As organizer we really regret that the defending champion and the most successful club team of the last decade is not competing at Europa cup 2010 in Vienna."

Reason for this is at the moment unknown to Minigolfnews.

Could have been a nice fight for rank 2 - but maybe someone else can be a challenger ...

Major tournaments are long, and their training sessions even longer. Especially if you play more than one of them in the same year. The "Odense system" is good, it minimizes the practice time and saves people´s holidays.

The predictable "walk in the park" for Uppsala will be even easier. Maybe WAT will put up some resistance.
Why do they do such tight calendars? The EC date has been this for years! Doesn't Hardenberg have more players?
It's a great upset for the organizers. That and the fact that the Portuguese champions will not be present either. ;)

What I heard from Harald was that a couple of the players (Harald being one of them) couldn't get off work. I guess this is because the Bundesliga 10/11 plays the first round 19 Sep and the second round 10 Oct. Totally understandable that you can't get off from work two weeks in August (for Predazzo), another couple of day for the two Bundesliga and then another week for the EC. That would be more minigolf than work from mid August to mid October.

This must be a really big disappointment to the organizers but also to the general public. Hardenberg is one of the dominating teams in the past years and it is sad they aren't able to compete.

Does anyone know the reason behind the decision? I heard something that some players were not able to play in that week?
