Miniature Golf and Bettering the Community – Part 1

Miniature Golf and Bettering the Community – Part 1
Pasi Aho and Students  (Photo by DMC Dalat Minigolfsport Club Facebook)

One of the great things about miniature golf is that it’s a sport where people of all ages, athletic ability and social standing can participate and achieve success. Because of that wide reach, it’s become a popular sport among social organizers looking to bring people together, help people in trouble or provide a manageable outlet for those with special needs.

Today’s article focuses on the last group. The DMC Dalat Minigolfsport Club in Vietnam has partnered with the Lam Dong School for Hearing Impaired to provide a place for deaf students to learn the sport. The program kicked off on March 13th with 20 kids participating. The kids come every Saturday to learn the sport and the familiar face of Pasi Aho was seen there in March helping everyone learn and organizing a tournament for the kids. Everyone who plays is eligible to be a member of the DMC and it’s a great chance to highlight that our sport really is open to open to all.

We’ve linked to the DMC facebook page where you can see plenty of pictures from when Pasi was there along with a summary of the events. There is also a 90 minute video available (linked to below) and some of the miniature golf action happens around the 35 minute mark. Thanks to Lê thị Ngọc Vân from the Sport for All Committee of the WMF for contributing to this story.
