There are about 300 recesses on one golf ball, and thanks to them, the ball flies three times farther than a smooth one. ... Balls of the same size...

Speculations
Are those 3 guys playing in Odense?

Time for some personal speculations about how the teams from Sweden will look like when they are published on Wednesday the 22nd.

Mens:

Anders Olsson, Uppsala: World number one in ranking and a great 2009 season so far. Have positions 1, 1 and 3 in the qualifying competitions.

Carl-Johan Ryner, Uppsala: One of the best ever felt players. Has competed sparsely this season due to becoming a father, but is ready to go to Odense if he gets the call.

Pierre Zetterlund, Tantogården: Closer in the Swedish team last two years in the absence of C-J Ryner. Will take a place even if he has not competed that much this year. The silver medal in SM is more than enough for qualifying.

Jonas Gustavsson, Jönköping: Has consistent been one of the top players in Sweden for many years now. Has competition positions 1, 1, 5, 4, 3 and now 10 in SM this outdoor season.

Fredrik Persson, Granhyddan: Has played well this season and the bronze on SM will give him a place. Is one of the few, together with CJ in this team that has taken individual medals in international championships.

Lars Brown, Uppsala: Had to play well in the Swedish Championship to grant his place, and so he did. Silencing all those with doubts by winning the gold in SM and especially a solid play on felt.

Marcus Larsson, Uppsala: Takes the final place in competition with Hans Olofsson and Filiph Svensson by a strong performance in SM. Medalist also in the Nordic Championship. Is a funny guy that makes the rest of the team a bit more relaxed.

Ladies:

Sandra Weaver, Jönköping: Sweden’s best female player at the moment crowning this with gold in SM. Is it time for her to succeed also internationally?

Karin Wiklund, Uppsala: Is a safe bet for a place in this team. Has had a high level for many years and the silver in SM was only another medal for Karin who has lots, and lots of them. Time for the 8th international medal? It has been a while since the seventh now in 2004.

Jessica Rengbrandt, Granhyddan: Is Swedens third best women today on the combination of felt and eternit. The bronze in SM confirms this.

Maria Olsson, Jönköping: Will take the last place in competition with Sandra Bengtsson. Maria has played her best season this year and will be given a chance in Odense.

On Wednesday we will see how right I am.

Substitutes:

Hans Olofsson, Kungälv
Filiph Svensson, Skoghall
Sandra Bengtsson, Uppsala
Karoline Karlsson, Tantogården

Let's hope you're right. It's not a very nice thing sitting here at home waiting for the phone call from the boss when I'm, for the first time since '97, not absolutely sure of a place.

Maybe I would tell Fredrik, Jonas, Marcus and Hans to go to a nice pub in Stockholm, drink one or two for life and minigolf, and then choose with a lottery one of them that will stay home in the reserve.
