Over the weekend of November 15-17, 2019, the German Minigolfsport Federation held 4th specialty weekend for girls, known as the “Girls Camp”. This year 6 young women took part in the event, which is focused on strengthening mentality and creating new ideas for the future of minigolf – and of course having fun. The focus of the event this year was “Dream Bigger” and included different expert presentations around how to set and reach goals, handle stress and some minigolf theory.
Sarah Schumacher, who co-organized the event this year, had this to say about it. “I personally think the biggest takeaway was to learn about the progress of making progress (not only in minigolf, in all kind of areas, for example in school or job). This year we specifically talked about the girls anxieties and how to handle them. That those anxieties actually are really important made a big impression. During a presentation we learned that when you face your fears you get out of your comfort zone into the stretch zone where you grow and become stronger. Also really helpful was to create a strategy how to face the fears as well as a motivation/visionboard . Concerning that we had another presentation about stress, held by a psychologist. Here we got to know that there is positive stress which is needed for motivation and negative stress which has the opposite effect. Not forget to mention that movement and sleep has a big impact about your stress level.”
They hope to extend the success of this event in 2020 with the date set for the weekend of November 6-8, 2020. You can find out more about the event at the Facebook page below or check out more pictures on their Instagram page.
