There are about 300 recesses on one golf ball, and thanks to them, the ball flies three times farther than a smooth one. ... Balls of the same size...

Hello it's Oskari "a great guy if personality and looks don't count" Vihervaara again! It's a good time to write after a long time! I have been enjoying life, sun, experiences, cultures and many other things for the past 5 months. Well, I arrived home little over month ago from Asia where I had the best time of my life in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan. Having experienced shattered dreams, corruption, poverty, magnificent nature, religions, history and broken but smiling people with nothing but great compassion in their eyes for life. Driving through 2 countrys with a motorbike, having spent a week in a jungle, learning new languages, meeting people I am now left with big peace of all this in my heart. But this is not a travel blog, although I had a little minigolf experience also in my last month of the trip... It is also topical since minigolf in Asia is growing fast!

After 2 months of traveling in Indonesia I got an idea inspired by all....

Bad Munder Jungle

Greetings from Bad Munder! While typing this the Nations Cup finals are played right now but I'm sitting in my hotel room... I am angry not only because of an individualy badly gone tournament, but for the general atmosphere of the competition and how it was handled by the referees. Almost 1/3 of the participants of this competition are Germans. They have trained here very much, they know the course better than anyone else. It shows in the results as they are by far the best on every aspect of the game here in Bad Munder. But still. They wan't more and more and more as every hungry athelete should do. Nothing wrong with that. They will do whatever it takes to WIN. And I have to say... I would love to have the priviledge to kick my ball back, scream and have crazy anger management tantrums and 5 clubs with me on every round so I can break 4 of them when I play bad. I could cool myself from the feelings I get when I play bad. But unfortunately I'm in the wrong team, so it means I will....

New winds blowing

Greetings everyone it’s me again. I want to update a little bit what’s happening in my head and in the Finnish minigolf scene. After meeting Jan-Åke Persson in the Nordics banket, I had to write something again. He explained me and Riku what he sees happening at the moment in Finnish minigolf. Generally everything that came out of his mouth I respect highly. This blogpost will contain a little bit of new philosophy and even the scientific explanation why we play minigolf!! I might be completely off with a lot my thoughts but hey, they are here because I want to help players, so don’t hesitate to correct me if I’m wrong.

First of all I want to give a lot of credit to Riku Pennanen, my “brotha from a notha motha”, whom I’ve been working with a lot this year. There is also a lot of his thoughts in this blog as well.

After not enjoying this game for a year that much I’ve fell in love with this sport again. There is multiple reasons why I haven’t been....

Experiments with children
Good to see this site up and running again. For me it means that it’s time for another awful and pitiful blog post. It’s about time I write something because not only the site has been down but also I’ve been banned from our national forum. So I’ve been like a blind man in a dark room or a crack addict without crack or even worse: I’ve been like Ben & Jerry’s chunky monkey ice cream without the chunky nut pieces.

About the topic. If you think what I think then please leave this site now. There is other sites for people who wan't to do "Experiments with children" and from what I understand this site is not one of those.

Ok let’s get on what I really have to say… It’s me again. The very nice and polite young gentleman from Finland and this time I have a report to make. As some might remember I was talking about the state of this sport in my last blog. So I tried to do something to improve it… This spring (May) I arranged P.E classes from two different....

Use your force to develop minigolf

Use your force to develop minigolf
I've been thinking. Again. This time it's not about zen. This time it's about the state of minigolf. It's poor. How to develop in smaller minigolf countries? Should we use only one ball in competitions, shorter concentration periods, fashionable clothes etc to get attention from media? Would that totally change the identity of minigolf and do we need attention from media or will it eventually come to us? How is chess so popular? Are international competitions healthy for smaller minigolf countries? Does it take away the opportunity to develop since it takes a lot of resources and money to go abroad playing? What if antimatter is born inside this planet? Who are you? Where?

(-_-) ...... ?!

I got inspired by this French project where two guys from the FFM did some partnership work with some school. Then I was delighted to hear that WMF gives financial support for projects like these. Then I was not so delighted when I heard the number of applications.....

My minigolf philosophy
07 Dec 2010 at 22:01 | Posted in: General | Views: 7821 | Comments: 13
Hello it's Oskari "a great guy if brains, personality and looks don't count" Vihervaara. An 18 year old kid from Tampere, Finland, sharing some thoughts. I have been playing minigolf for the past 6 years now or something like that (a period of time anyway) and some of you might even know me. This morning I started writing some of my thoughts about minigolf. Since the blogposts are a bit too conservative to my liking, I thought I could post my writings since they are a bit different. But now that I have my own blog here I might as well blend in in the future and start writing some boring stuff about my warming socks or something... I will share some of my thoughts about minigolf and maybe even discuss about different kinds of minigolf philosophys if one has one and is willing to share that! Since I love this sport very much I wan't to go a little deeper. I'm not going to bore you with what kind of underwear am I wearing when playing or how I choose and what kind of balls do I prefer to....
