Tomorrow is the start of the Swedish Championships in minigolf. Like recent years we are a part of an event called SM-veckan. It is an event that gathers sports of all different kinds. Big sports like swimming and track & field compete at the same event as for example minigolf, skateboard and rugby (small sport in Sweden). This year, the event is held in Borås. A city known for rain, Elfsborgs IF (soccer team), Kappahl (clothes) and a big statue of Pinocchio.
I like this event a lot, it is a chance to experience sports that otherwise would not get the chance to shine on national television.
Since a few years back, minigolf is attending this event and ever since our presence the national television has broadcasted the final of the match play live.
Here you find a link to last years final: https://www.svtplay.se/video/8790750/sm-veckan/sm-veckan-bangolf-2
This year will remain the same. The swedish television will broadcast the final live on national TV. This is a major chance for us to get more people to discover minigolf as a sport. To show them that this is more than just a holiday activity.
Well, lets hope that some of the people that watch on TV decides to give this sport a go.
Who will win?
In the female category my money is on Marielle Svensson, Askims BGK. She participated in the Nations Cup in Croatia and in my eyes she is the female to beat.
The male category is a tougher race, names like Dan Trulsson, Ulf Kristiansson, Maguns Mårtensson, Mats Nilsson and Robin Andersson are favorites. But I am going to take a chance and say Torgny Kjellström from Kungälvs BGK. A player that is consistent and always bring a smile to the court.
Good luck to all of you in Borås. May the best payer win!
