After two of three qualifying tournaments being played, the last one is SM in Tantogården in two weeks some speculations on the Swedish Teams for Predazzo could be made. It seems already clear now that Sweden will face a struggling year both on the ladies and the men’s side with lots of players from the national teams the past year not playing.
On the ladies side the top three ladies from last year Sandra Weaver, Karin Wiklund and Jessica Rengbrandt has not been playing any qualifiers and will not play the Swedish Championships according to the starting list in HCP-online.
This opens for a team speculation like follows:
• Sandra Bengtsson
• Maria Olsson
• Junior Frida Elmdahl (to double with Sochi)
• Senior lady Linda Lundberg (to double with Cheb)
In the speculations we could also find Jenny Erlandsson and possibly also junior Sara Karlsson.
One the men’s side we like also have a lot of star players not appearing in Predazzo. Names like Fredrik Persson, Lars Brown, Jesper Andersson, Marcus Larsson and Pierre Zetterlund will for sure not be there. Also some other names like Carl-Johan Ryner, Anders Olsson, Filip Svensson and Jonas Gustavsson havnt played that much but will play the Swedish Championships.
This opens for a team speculation like follows:
• Carl-Johan Ryner
• Jonas Gustavsson
• Anders Olsson
• Filip Svensson
• Ulf Kristiansson
• Peter Eisenschmidt
• John Widlert
Since some of these names are quite uncertain there are also some contenders worth mentioning. These are Patric Jönsson, Daniel Källström, Andreas Fransson, Andreas Frejborn and possibly also the seniors names Jan-Åke Persson and Peter Nordin to double with Cheb.
The Swedish Championships will be the last test for these challengers and then the 21st of July the Head Coaches will nominate the teams.
Ole, dole, doff... is the start for a Swedish child chant used when a selection is to be made.
