Before this site was opened no "journalist" where ever much interested in what happened in the World of Minigolf. Some local journalist have been writing about the career of their local Minigolf Star, but the work of WMF and other national federations have never gotten much coverage in media.
Now, we who run this site are all the time searching for interesting news in the world of Minigolf. Sorry to say the world of Minigolf is not really prepared to assist us. I don’t think many out there even think of us working with Minigolfnews as journalists or media at all. We are just a site by some Minigolf nerds and assisting us is not really important. But if interest had been shown by Eurosport or BBC I guess most officials would be on their toes. I know that any media have to build their reputation on their own, but already now it's easy to state that we are the largest Minigolf Media site in the world, since we are actually the only one trying to cover the entire World.
So we have to surf the web (but we can only cover the parts written in languages we understand), we read protocols if they are published (many nations don’t publish their protocols at all on the internet) to know what has been decided. This process is often quite slow, protocols are often several months old and things might have happened after that we don't know about, and can lead to mistakes since not all details are published in protocols.
But at the moment this is all we have to work with. In the future we should wish for better push of "Press Releases" to us and other journalists/media by WMF/EMF and nations. Some nations have started to send us result at least but its sometimes hard to write a story only reading results. A photo and a story of what really happened is much better and that is what we would like help with in the future. Most people we talk with is happy to assist us when we ask them, but sometimes its hard for us to even know what to ask for.
So being a Minigolf Journalist is a tough job, but someone has to do it!
