There are about 300 recesses on one golf ball, and thanks to them, the ball flies three times farther than a smooth one. ... Balls of the same size...

Odense 2009: lost medal or great result?

Odense 2009: lost medal or great result?
Hi all,

I am now back home from Odense after a quite long trip (about 20 hours with minibus). But I'm still asking myself the same question since Saturday afternoon: should I be sad having lost a medal, or should I be happy for this historical result for an Italian player?

I still have no answer...

Of course, when you arrive so close to get a medal, you are a little bit disappointed if you end in 4th place...
But I'm sure that in the next days I will be able to understand the importance and value of my result in Odense.

I left to Odense two weeks ago with the target to reach the 32 players final, because I thought it would have been very difficult for me to play on that tricky felt course, having played only one real felt tournament in the past (World Championships in Bad Münder, 2003).
Now I'm here with a 4th place, best result ever for an Italian player in a World Championships, best result ever on felt too....

Weekend in Waldshut

Weekend in Waldshut
During Easter weekend me and other people from the Italian Youth National Team staff were in Waldshut (GER) for a first "contact" with the courses where Youth Nations' Cup and European Championships will be played in the next period.

It was a very nice weekend with nice, sunny and warm weather.

I think I could write some notes about the two courses in Waldshut, that could perhaps be useful for people going to Waldshut in the next time.

The course place is very nice. The two courses are placed in a very relaxing green area just next to Rhein River. On the other coast you can also see Switzerland :-) because the river also represent the border line between Germany and Switzerland.

As Italian team we have also found a very nice location staying at a camping-hostel placed in the same road of the minigolf course, also near the river, just 500 m far from the minigolf place.

Waldshut is a nice town too...not so big....

Start of Italian League 2009
I'm back here on my blog after a long silence period, but I was quite busy with a lot of stuff, including a lot of work on my home course in Novi Ligure to have it ready for the season opening (perhaps I will talk about that in another blogpost).

Next weekend the Italian League 2009 will start so I think it could be a nice idea to present it. The League will qualify the Italian men and ladies team that will take part in EC 2010 in Wien.

The League is open to 7-players male teams and 4-players ladies team and has 4 scheduled days:
- 5th April, Canegrate (bongni)
- 17th May, Naturns (miniaturegolf)
- 7th June, Lozza (bongni)
- 27-28th June, Monza (Italian Championships, miniaturegolf)

No big changes have been made to the best teams since last year, even the new rules allow each team to borrow up to 2 players only for the league from another club not taking part on it, so the situation....

A place for organizing club at the ECup?
21 Jan 2009 at 11:21 | Posted in: Rules | Views: 1872 | Comments: 6
Hi all,

as second post on my blog, I would like to share with you some opinions about a matter which has been recently discussed here in Italy.

You know that ECup 2011 has been assigned to Vergiate.
During discussions for this application we talked about the reasons why the organizing team is actually not automatically qualified to the event.

The discussion came about a (reasonable, in my opinion) specification from GSP Vergiate, that explained how it would be much better for them to be sure to have their team participating at the event.

Well, actually Vergiate has the strongest men team in Italy by far. But you always have to qualify yourself through tournaments and you can never be sure to get the pass until the end of the tournament.

After all discussions, Italian Federation (FIGSP) sent a motion to EMF/WMF to discuss about the proposal to give the rights for a place to the clubs that organizes....

A "new deal" for the Italian National Elėte Team?

A "new deal" for the Italian National Elėte Team?
This is my first blog post in this new website.

First of all I would like to thank Erik that proposed me to co-work at this website as "reporter" from Italy and with my personal blog, where I'll try to place some interesting posts and comments about different aspects of minigolf in Italy or related to Italy in any kind of way.

As first post I would like to talk about the situation of our National Elėte Team.

In the title I ask myself if this 2009 can represent a "new deal" for our Elėte Team.

Before and after World Championships 2007 in Canegrate there had been some troubles both between staff and players, and also some financial troubles for the Federation that came out from that Championship with bigger costs than expected and didn't have the chance to organize an Elėte national team for the year 2008.

In 2009 we have a new staff, a new program that seemed to start quite well last weekend at the first....
