Greetings from Bad Munder! While typing this the Nations Cup finals are played right now but I'm sitting in my hotel room... I am angry not only because of an individualy badly gone tournament, but for the general atmosphere of the competition and how it was handled by the referees. Almost 1/3 of the participants of this competition are Germans. They have trained here very much, they know the course better than anyone else. It shows in the results as they are by far the best on every aspect of the game here in Bad Munder. But still. They wan't more and more and more as every hungry athelete should do. Nothing wrong with that. They will do whatever it takes to WIN. And I have to say... I would love to have the priviledge to kick my ball back, scream and have crazy anger management tantrums and 5 clubs with me on every round so I can break 4 of them when I play bad. I could cool myself from the feelings I get when I play bad. But unfortunately I'm in the wrong team, so it means I will get penalized for that!
So... Apparently if you are a member of the national team of Germany, you can scream as loud as you can: "MAN!!! FUCK!!!" after playing 3 on brigde on felt with the referee standing in front of the green!!!!! Yep, no problem. Also you can do speaches in a shouting voice so everyone on both courses can hear your analyze why your great highness has missed the lane. Almost on every round I personally saw this. Yep, no problem. But! For me it's misbehaviour note when I shout "Perse" which means "Ass" in finnish after missing last lane on felt. For me it's spoken note for time when it takes 70 seconds to take my fourth shot on lane 11 on miniature. And yes I do agree with those calls. I've broken the rules. But the funniest thing is that after the time note I aced the last 7 lanes finishing with a stunning 24 on miniature screaming as loud as I can just to provoke the referee. I even said to him that his time notice was a complete joke considering everything that has happened during the tournament. I did all this and the guy didn't even have the balls to give me a card or an extra point! It's a joke!!! And they know it! It's like the referees were there just to let you to the toilet...
So to all the referees reading this. The job is easy: be patient, make sure that the game flows good that there is no breaking of the time rule, be equal to everyone (!!!), don't make a number of yourself and grow a damn pair (if you don't allready have) to handle the bad behaving monkeys. It might turn out for the best for everyone in mutual respect between the players and the referees. Even a friendly word or two can calm a player down if it's done in the right manner. Social skills required!! If that doesn't help next step is sanction. And more sanction if that don't help.
In addition as always I am speaking as an individual not as a member of the national team I represent or my club. My anger is not for any players, it's for referees. They are the ones that make sure that the competition doesn't run out of their control. Now I would say it did this time and I hope I won't see it again! I do apologize for my own misbehaviour in the competition and the intentional provoking to prove my point. There is no rules is the jungle. Today (before the finals atleast) and yesterday the minigolf course of Bad Munder was a jungle.
Now I will go and watch the finals!! Hope to see many of you here in the beautiful set of Bad Munder in August! Much love,
-Oskari
