of my (real) minigolf career appeared in July at the last Elitserie of 2009. Today I played the MOS-finals in Slottskogen, I will probably play some more of those in the future, but still just a few. But, when there are over 100.000 SEK at stake in minigolf tourneys, I will be there.
I am by the way pretty content with my tourney today, I played better and better, won 2 games after decent play. But I lost in the quarter finals against the World’s nr 1 Olsson after a few rather weak mistakes. Disappointed? of course, bitter and angry? not the least bit, merely the opposite. I think we had a great tourney with some big surprises as well as more obvious outcomes of games. An amateur beat the World Champion Weaver and his play then took him all the way to the semi finals. But we also saw 2 of Sweden’s best and most experienced MOS-players battle it out in the final.
Thus, I have prepared my last minigolf ball as a player. The time has also come for my last blog, post or what the fuck ever you would like to call it…
I kind of feel like writing something really special, and interesting, for my last login to this forum. Maybe write something about new course systems, national coaches, broken rules, maybe illegal substances or cheating or why not something really deep and thoughtful about the future of minigolf/MOS.
But experience tells me to stay off the subject, the responses only makes me disappointed, and seriously, how fun are my posts anyway…..
The sport, which I have loved for 30 years, and still love to PLAY, is right now going through some times I don’t like. We are becoming fewer, older, and bitterer, many times we focus on the wrong things etc.
There are of course some highlights and positive things happening, but in my opinion they are still too few. Why? Well, if I had a good answer or explanation I would give it to you. But if I would try to be honest about what I think about some subjects I would probably make even less minigolf friends.
I always assume that everybody tries their best on every occasion, no matter the task before them, no matter if it is playing minigolf or ball warming, choice of players for a team, committee work or maybe some construction work at a course. But sometimes I highly doubt that assumption, as well as many of you probably question my purposes and opinions from time to time.
But, that’s life, it is only minigolf after all and I might see you at a course in the future. Good day, good night and good luck in the future to all minigolfers!!
Wherever you are…..
