Never failed in any competition?\r\n\r\nI remember Tampere 2008 where it was very annoying to change to paper a couple of times... So it has failed. Also they had problems in Lamego.

In Tampere it happened once or twice that the server (of a big public company that offers website hosting) got stuck, and nobody in this company answered the phone during the weekend, so we had to use paper scorecards for a short time, until this company got their server back running.\r\n\r\nNothing to do with the scorekeeping system, it was the website company whose server got stuck.\r\n\r\nAnyway, in all such cases we soon collected the papers from players, and playing was continued with electronic scorekeeping. This Finnish system has never failed to work at least 80% of the total competition time.

When you are at home it was that nice to see what a player had made on each lane while they was still playing the round

Even without the expensive electronic system, it would be possible for the webmaster to update the scores every 5 minutes during the final round, by walking through the minigolf course asking about the latest scores, and then inserting the scores to the computer system.\r\n\r\nThere are possible ways to make at least the final moments of a competition more interesting for website visitors, without investing any extra money to electronic systems.

Sometimes I feel that the Internet audinece is totally neglected. In Lamego the results where good, but nothing happened on the website (not even links to the results), no photos and no reports. \r\n\r\nIn Waldshut it was better with reports and photos, but it was not very easy to find it.

The Internet audience is typically several hundred people, a bigger crowd than the spectators at minigolf course. The audience of a downloadable competition video will easily be more than a thousand.

I do like both the finnish system and Bangolf Arena, they are both strong solutiions with a few small problems.\r\n\r\nIn Bangolf Arena theŕe is no live function (As far as I know at least), otherwise the statistics system is much better in Bangolf Arena.\r\n\r\nIn the finnish system the live system is awsome, but what I miss in that system is for example lane statistics and so on. With that I mean lane statistics for all players

Still, both programs needs a much better (Graphical) User Interface so it would be easier to use.

Bangolf Arena has every function that you need to show live results lane by lane. Every requirement is implemented (at least what I know). But you need another system also.\r\n\r\nIn fact live results, lane by lane, using mobile phones was an integrated part of BA in the first version when it was released 8 years ago. For a couple of reasons the mobile client was removed from BA in the early years. Instead BA today has an open interface where other software can implement the mobile part. Spike is the name of the system that is using iPods to feed live results to BA through this interface.\r\n\r\nShowing player photos is quite easy to implement. A nice thing would be if there were a global repository with player photos that every tournament software could use. At least in Sweden players have unique ids that could be used to reference the photos.\r\n\r\nI beleive BA users think the user interface is easy to use but it could have been better. The reason for not changing in too much is that I want to prioritise new functionality instead of polishing the user interface. If anyone has any concrete suggestions of what to improve please tell me.
