Lane drawings of apparently the earliest patented minigolf standard in history, the American 1930 Tom Thumb courses:\r\n\r\nhttp://www.miniaturegolfer.com/miniature_golf_garnet_carter.html\r\n\r\nFor some reason this page includes 14 lanes only.\r\n\r\nNotice the octagonal greens. This is quite much the style of courses that Swedish minigolf pioneers saw in USA, and brought the new game to Sweden, where it slowly evolved into the felt courses that WMF uses today. (Swedish minigolf courses used tennis sand as the base of the lanes until 1960s or 1970s, when they started to use felt as the base for the lanes. Felt was rare and expensive after the world wars.)
