The list is arranged from fastest to slowest (approximately).\r\n\r\nunpainted eternite\r\npainted eternite or beton\r\nunpainted beton\r\nhard felt (Bolltex etc.)\r\nmedium hard felt (sometimes used in Central Europe)\r\nhard short plastic grass (USPMGA Hawaiian Rumble in North Myrtle Beach)\r\nsoft felt (Verdepitch 6 mm) http://www.artificialgrass.org.uk/acatalog/\r\nsoft velvet carpet (Pirates courses in Belfast)\r\nsoft short plastic grass (Verdegrass)\r\nrug carpet (USPMGA Village & Pineapple courses in North Myrtle Beach)\r\nextra soft felt (Verdesport 8 mm)\r\nmedium long plastic grass, sand-filled\r\nlong plastic grass, sand-filled\r\nauthentic golf green grass\r\nregular garden grass\r\n\r\n----------\r\n\r\nHere is my latest sketch for the categories. Some names are not quite perfect yet. This is getting very complex and chaotic, so I use the word \"golf\" in the name of every system that is played with a golf ball. In real life, many of these systems are not having any essential competitions at the moment.\r\n\r\n----------\r\n\r\nMinigolf courses with a HARD playing surface (concrete, etc.):\r\n\r\nB = \"beton\", \"Bongni standard\"\r\nE = \"eternite\" (WMF standard)\r\nT5 = \"T5000\"\r\nCB = \"Cobigolf\"\r\nST = \"Sterngolf\"\r\nFM = \"fantasy minigolf\" = ANY OTHER minigolf course with a hard playing surface [Sochi etc.]\r\n\r\n----------\r\n\r\nMinigolf courses with a SOFT playing surface (felt carpet, etc.):\r\n\r\nF = \"felt\" (WMF standard)\r\nNF = \"Nordic felt\" = other felt courses of traditional Scandinavian style\r\nDF = \"Dutch felt\"\r\nPP = \"Putt-Putt golf\" [played with a golf ball]\r\n\r\nOther minigolf courses WITH some regular wall sections, no fantasy obstacles inside playing area:\r\nAG = \"adventure golf\" = played with golf balls [USPMGA version of minigolf]\r\nAM = \"adventure minigolf\" = played with minigolf balls [British version of minigolf]\r\n\r\nMinigolf courses WITHOUT any regular wall sections, no fantasy obstacles inside playing area, played with golf balls:\r\nPG = \"putting golf\" = wide and easy routes from start to putting green\r\nGG = \"garden golf\" = narrow routes from start to putting green [difficulty comparable to felt courses]\r\nCG = \"city golf\" = without a direct route from start to putting green [Slottskogen dogleg course]\r\n\r\nANY OTHER minigolf course with a soft playing surface:\r\nFF = \"fantasy felt\" = played with minigolf balls\r\nFG = \"fantasy golf\" = played with golf balls\r\n\r\n----------\r\n\r\nSpecial competitions, unrelated to the type of minigolf course:\r\n\r\nCR = multi-ball crazy golf

Balls of the same size and mass, launched at the same speed, overcome air resistance in different ways (due to the formation of small "pillows" and air swirls.
