The "ITALIA League" has started this week with a tournament on concrete course in Paderno Dugnano.
6 teams in the men event (GSP Vergiate - title holder -, GSP Cusano, MC Monza, MGC Novi Ligure, MT Amatese, CP Alto Adige) and 4 teams in the ladies event (GSP Cusano - title holder -, MC Monza, MMC Paderno, MGC Novi Ligure).

It seems that nothing has changed since 2010 edition of the league. Men team of GSP Vergiate and ladies team of GSP Cusano dominated this first day, confirming that they are still the top favourites for the title also in 2011.

In the men event, GSP Vergiate took immediately the lead after the first round and mantained it until the end with a safe margin of about 10 strokes. GSP Cusano tried to fight for the victory but could only keep Vergiate's ryhthm for the first round.
Cusano had also to take care of MC Monza to defend the 2nd place. After a very bad start, Monza made the best score in the 2nd and 3rd round and could try to catch the 2nd place, but Cusano had been able to defend it by just 3 strokes.
4th place for Amatese, 5th place for Novi Ligure and 6th place for the Südtirol regional team.

In the ladies event, GSP Cusano team won with a smaller margin compared to 2010 tournaments. Thanks to a very good performance of MC Monza team, they could win by "only" 10 strokes. The home team of MMC Paderno took a 3rd place, Novi Ligure 4th.

This tournament showed some great individual performance both in men and ladies category.
In the men category some old records of the course had been broken after many years.
Two players, Boris Arzuffi (MT Amatese) and Cristian Pinton (MC Monza) equalized the historical round of 25 strokes made by Italo Fetti during the Europa Cup 1998 (where he won with his team Süssen).
Rudi Giroldini destroyed the old record on 3 rounds, it was 90 strokes made during Italian Championship 1992. Rudi scored an impressive 86 confirming to be the best italian player on concrete, but also other 2 players beated the old record: Boris Arzuffi with 87 strokes and Gioacchino Ricchiuto with 89 strokes.

Among ladies, great performance by Anna Bandera (GSP Cusano) that equalized the course record on one round with 27 strokes and on three rounds with 89 strokes.
