One of the best minigolfers of all time on all playing systems,
Carl-Johan Ryner of Sweden, has been staying away from international
major tournaments (other than European Cup) since 2006 when he played in Geldrop.
Ryner finds it difficult to arrange time and economical resources
for a full commitment to the national team, because he also wants to
have full yearly holidays without work or minigolf competitions.
A luxury that most top-class players haven’t been able to afford ever since they joined
the national team...
Carl-Johan has recently announced that he will make comeback into the national team
in 2009, if his game remains in top condition. World Championships 2009 is played
on felt and eternite in Odense, Denmark, on indoor courses which are installed in
place only in August 2009, and Nations Cup is not played at all.
Ryner on felt? Sounds cool. Especially if the felt course will be a difficult one...
