The "Italia League" 1 has played its last day of 2011 season in Siusi
(Sudtirol), on a miniaturegolf course in a beatiful mountain resort just
under the "Sciliar" dolomite resort.
This has been the 3rd and final day of 2011 League, that celebrate GSP
Vergiate as champion in the men team event, and GSP Cusano in the ladies
team event. Both teams have made the double because they also won the league
last year.
The two teams are so qualified for European Team Cup 2012 in Vizela.
This last day didn't offer too many emotions because all it was almost
decided: GSP Cusano was already sure to be the champion in the ladies event;
a little bit more suspence in the men event because GSP Vergiate had an easy
task: with a Cusano victory, it had been enough for them to take a 3rd place
to be the champions. During all the season, the two teams showed a massive
domination so there was almost no chance to see other two teams placing in
the middle between Cusano and Vergiate.
Anyway, as regards the last day, GSP Cusano did the best they could do,
winning the day both with male and female teams.
In the ladies event there was the usual dominance, with 31 strokes advantage
on MC Monza which got a second place.
A close match has been played in the men event indeed. As in the other
previous tournaments, GSP Cusano and GSP Vergiate played "stroke-by-stroke"
until the end of the tournament. This time, GSP Cusano could defeat GSP
Vergiate by only two strokes.
Another close match has been played for 3rd place. This time, MT Amatese
could be better than MC Monza (in the previous days always Monza managed to
defeat Amatese), also here by just two strokes.
Just back the regional team of Alto Adige in 5th place and MGC Novi Ligure
in 6th.
GSP Cusano dominated also the individual event: the best male player has
been Claudio Santopietro with 80 total strokes (with Pierluigi Marchiani
always from Cusano in second place); the best female player has been Sara
Marchiani with 86 strokes.
