Interview with Eva Libigerová (EL), Czech Republic and SK Tempo Praha
This interview was done the 5th of October 2013. Interviewer is Hans Bergström (HB).
HB: First of all congratulations to a good season of 2013, with bronze in the team play and 7th and 4th pace individually in the World Championship.
Is this your best season so far?
EL: Thank you. Yes, it definitely is my best season.
HB: So, maybe you can start by telling our readers who is Eva Libigerová?
EL: I´m 25 years old, I work in a bank. I live in Praha with my boyfriend Karel Molnar and also with our dog Agata. My other favorite hobby instead of minigolf is preparing baguettes for Tempo Praha, especially during the EC :).
HB: At the Bad Münder Championship you where substituted into the team with four lanes to go on the last lap. It was a battle for the medals with Austria and Sweden and you knew upfront that you needed to ace the four last lanes on eternit to secure the bronze medal for Czech Republic. Can you describe your feelings during these last lanes and also how it felt when you succeeded?
EL: First of all I want to tell you that I didn't know the whole situation. Thanks to my coach I felt like it is everything all right so I wasn't worried about the result. After the final shot the rest of the team told me that we are third. I become very happy at that moment and it felt great.
HB: In the stroke play you ended as 7th in the end. Are you happy with this result?
EL: When I was leaving for Bad Münder I didn't even hope in such a result. So I'm very happy.
HB: And in the match play you lost in the semifinal against Sandra Bengtson after a long sudden death. I guess you were very disappointed at that moment?
EL: I was mainly angry about myself. But I have to admit that it was Sandra who gives me the chance to play the sudden death. Because of her three on the lane 18 on felt course.
HB: Then you lost also the bronze match against Annika Dellmann. So you ended up in the fourth place. Is this a result that you now 5 weeks later are
happy with or disappointed still that you didn’t get a medal being so close?
EL: In the very first moments it was disappointing for me, but now when I think about it, it was a great performance.
HB: It seems like the sport is on a positive trend in the Czech Republic after some years with difficulties. Can you describe the situation for Minigolf in the Czech Republic?
EL: The situation in Czech minigolf is not perfect, but it is getting better. Unfortunately the finances in our sport are not good. That was also the reason why our national teams weren't representing our country in past years.
HB: In your eyes who is the best male and female minigolf player in the world at the moment?
EL: In my opinion the best female player in the world is Bianca Zodrow and as always she showed it in the WC. And the best male player is for sure Karel Molnár ;).
HB: Will we be seeing equally much of you in the 2014 season?
EL: I hope so, but it depends not just on me but on our national head coach.
HB: Again a big congratulation to the great 2013 season and good luck in the future.
EL: Thank you once again.
