This weekend the 13th International competition was played at the beton courses in Skoghall. This year the competition had a big starting field of 112 players from Sweden and Norway. This tournament has become the most important beton yearly competition in Sweden.

It’s also one of quite few competitions where the candidates for the national teams could impress the national coaches, so the starting field was quite strong. The where some rain showers this weekend especially on Sunday making the total rounds to be five instead of the planned six.

This tournament is often dominated by the home club Skoghall and this was also the case this year. In the men’s class home player Ulf Kristiansson won comfortably with 3 strokes margin. Ulf who also won in 2010 is usually a top 3 player in this tournament. This time his closest chaser was Daniel Zetterfors from Kungälv who ended 3 strokes behind. Norwegian home player Lars Kvael was third on the same results as 3 other player another two strokes behind Daniel.

In the ladies class the winner was Rose-Marie Lönnqvist of Linjen who won with the huge margin of 11 strokes before Uppsalas Sandra Bengtsson. Sara Karlsson in the junior girl’s class won easily with 6 strokes before Elisabeth Brandt of Linjen. The biggest surprise was probably Elisabeths brother Anders Brandt who is playing remarkable good beton Minigolf at the moment. The week before Anders was totally best in Askim on beton and in Skoghall he followed that up by another victory, but this time against a much better starting field with all the good juniors from the home club. His winner result of 138 was equally good as Ulf Kristianssons in the men’s class.

The best lady of the weekend could be found in the oldtimers ladies class where Bernice Thors won on 147 strokes. She was two strokes in front of her team mate Anneli Larsson and yet another stroke before Linda Lundberg.

But the king of Skoghall this weekend was Roger Niord in the Mens Oldtimers class. This is the favorite course of Roger who has the remarkable suite of 1-1-2-1-1 in between 2008-2012. This with a usually very strong starting field with most of the Swedish National Team in Oldtimers participating. This time he was also the best player of the tournament for the first time with a result of 137.
