German national team legends of 1990’s, Michael Neuland
and Joachim “Jochen” Sturm, took the first place at 30 Hours Marathon for pairs
at the 80% beton indoor course in Bassersdorf, Switzerland.
Swiss players Vitus Spescha & Cedric Mathys landed in tied total score
with the winners (average 25.66),
but the German veterans proved better in the sudden death play-off for victory
of the tournament.
No less than 24 points behind the silver medalists (0.93 points per player and round)
came the Swiss pair Sonja Viatte & Michel Eggenschwiler in third place,
with average score 26.59. German stars Miroslav Stoparic & Max Hermann
were left fourth, in tied points with Viatte & Eggenschwiler.
100 players from 5 countries (Austria, Finland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland)
participated in Bassersdorf 30h Marathon 2008, making it one
of the international highlights of the winter season.
