The German Championship took place on the Eternit and Felt Courses in Schriesheim from the 12th to 14th of July. There were 4 preliminary combination rounds (one round on Eternit, one on Felt, in turns) to play to qualify for the matchplay play-offs. Another intermediate and final combination round decided the strokeplay champions. On the last day the best 32 men and 16 women played the play-offs in matchplay to find the matchplay champions.
Last year's winner Bianca Zodrow from Göttingen defended her title as the strokeplay champion with a total of 309 (average 25.75). Alexandra von dem Knesebeck from Göttingen came 2nd with 309 (average 25.75). Stefanie Kern from Olten (she plays for a Swiss club but still is German) followed on the 3rd place with 315 (average 26.25).
Marcel Noack from Mainz won the strokeplay with a total of 288 (average 24.00). Sebastian "Brezel" Heine from Wesel came 2nd with 295 (average 24.58), followed by Harald Erlbruch from Hardenberg with 297 (average 24.75). Last year's strokeplay winner Alexander Geist ended up on the 13th place.
In matchplay Alexandra von dem Knesebeck and Stefanie Kern both reached the semi-final but lost it, Alexandra against Bianca Zodrow and Stefanie against Nicole Warnecke from Cuxhaven. So the final was Bianca Zodrow versus Nicole Warnecke, won by Bianca. So this year Bianca Zodrow also won the title as the matchplay champion.
Marcel Noack, the strokeplay champion, lost the first play-off against Nils Glaser from Schriesheim and was out. The same happened to Sebastian Heine, the strokeplay vice-champion, who lost against Stephan Behrens from Bochum. The 3rd of strokeplay, Harald Erlbruch, was more successful and reached the quarter-final, but then lost against the winner of the World Adventure Golf Masters, Martin Stöckle from Hamburg-Niendorf. Last year's strokeplay champion Alexander Geist from Hardenberg reached the semi-final and lost against Achim Braungart-Zink from Arheilgen. The reigning World Champion Walter Erlbruch from Hardenberg ended up on the 14th place after strokeplay, but nevertheless reached the final. He then won against Achim Braungart-Zink very close and is the new matchplay champion. Alexander Geist reached the final for the 3rd place and won against Martin Stöckle.
Last year's surprising matchplay winner Christopher Jäck from Singen reached the 4th place in strokeplay and the quarter-final in matchplay, but lost it against Achim Braungart-Zink. So he again showed an excellent performance.
