The AMF President today Arash Pooyanmehr announced that the 2014 Asian Open Championships have been cancelled du to poor interest. I a mail to international minigolf officials Arash explained;
"Today, we have 75 days to start the AOC 2014 in Kish Island but by any reasons and more than 2 month of registration deadline, we have only 2 full teams registered (Iran & Taiwan), 1 full team is ready but not registered (China), 1 player from Austria and 1 player not decided (Japan). You can see this is not a good situation to holding a tournament. because we are trying for more popularization and improvement of Minigolf and this condition is fully against of our goal. Sso, after consulting with AMF board members, UNFORTUNATELY, I decided to cancel this tournament in Kish Island. a very difficult decision for me. because I started my activities from 2 years ago and it was a great target for me. unattainable target...please accept my apology as the president of both AMF & IMS (Iran Minigolf Society). We are all in IMS are unhappy because we expected to show a true face of Iran and our hospitality."
The AMF Delegate Conference will be held in Bangkok, Thailand instead.
