On April 30.2017 at the Ararat Golf Club, Yerevan, Armenia 23 players took place in the First National Mini Golf Tournament in that country. The event was organized by the National Golf Association of Armenia with the support of the Ararat Golf Club. There were three divisions: Men (10 players), Women (5 players) and Junior (8 players). The tournament was a one-round tournament.
Alexander Stushnov shot the low score for the round of a 43, which put him atop of the Men's leaderboard by 5 strokes. Although he did shoot a 5 on hole 13, his more consistent front 9 put him in the lead and kept him there for the round. David Babayan finished second with a 48 and Artak Gyurjinyan finished third with a 55.
In the Women's division, Lilit Hovhannisyan took the top place by one stroke with a 58 over Armenuhi Gevorgyan with a 59 and only 3 strokes over Veronica Avetisyan with a 61. There was much more tension in this round as Lilit shot a 4 on the final hole to Armenuhi's ace which closed the gap considerably!
In the Junior division, Arno Gyurjinyan took first place with a 53, which was 4 better then second and third place winners Robert Ernjakyan and Hrant Hovhannisyan.
Overall the course played tough as there were only seven aces across the 23 competitors and many holes took their fair share of fours and fives. Overall it was a great start to what is hopefully a growing tournament!
