In Part 2 of this series, we continued our look at how miniature golf has been positively impacting people's relationship with their local libraries and helping to raise funds to keep them in order. In this part we continue to highlight some of the great events that have been held around the United States.
First we have two articles about a minigolf event held at Clark Public Library in New Jersey. The first article has some great pictures of the event while the second article lists all of the groups that either supported the event through playing or built holes. While neither article specifically mentions how much was raised for the library we can assume it was a decent amount given 100 golfers played the course. What's impressive about this event is the large cross section of people who were involved from physics classes to sports teams to a Girl Scout troop. It shows how miniature golf can be a great way to bring people together!
Next up we have the first library event that we've seen outside of the United States. The Caddystacks 2 event was held at Halton Hills Public Library in Acton, Ontario, Canada earlier this year. The event raised over $3,000 for the library and will help them fund a reading deck for the warmer months. They already have the next iteration of the event planned for April 7, 2018.
Our next article doesn't have a lot of details about money raised but it does have some great pictures of the event. This one was held at Oak Bluffs library on Martha's Vineyard, a popular vacation spot off the coast of Massachusetts. This event did feature a 3D printer which allowed all participants to get a custom printed tee for playing.
Finally, our editor played some library minigolf this past Spring as well. The Hall Memorial Library in Ellington, CT held it's miniature golf event in April and The Putting Penguin played and provided its review. It was a 21 hole course with an enormous par (91!) but it did reflect that the course used almost every square inch of a large and multi-story library. You can also read the article that lead up to the event which provides more information on the large amount of sponsors who helped made it a great event for the library.
As winter is rolling into the United States we are seeing a lot of articles mentioning upcoming library miniature golf events so we'll surely be posting more about this great combinations of sport, leisure and education as the months tick by. If you know of any events or are involved in any of these events please share them with our editor at patsheridan@minigolfnews.com.
