Algund-Lagundo, Italy - The European Cup for club teams was held August 17-19, 2017 for both men's and women's teams. The men's competition was held on felt while the women's competition was held on miniaturegolf and both competitions played 11 rounds with a cut of teams after the first 8 rounds. In the men's division there were 9 club teams representing 8 different countries and the women's division saw 10 teams from 9 countries.

In the men's competition, Uppsala BGK from Sweden was the dominant team from right out of the gate, taking the lead after the first round and going onto win by over 100 strokes with a 29.5 average. The great team score was lead by Carl-Johan Ryner who posted the tournament low average of 27.9, shooting 307 for the 11 rounds. Second place also went to a Swedish club with Skoghalls BKG beating out MGC Olomouc from the Czech Republic, who took the final podium spot.

In the women's competition, the fight for the podium was considerably closer as DGC Bystrice pod Hostýnem from the Czech Republic took the top spot by 11 strokes in total with a 21.7 average. Lenka Dolezelova was the low shooter for the team, averaging a 20.9 which was tied with Stefanie Blendermann of MGC Mainz for the low average of the tournament. MGC Mainz of Germany ended up taking 2nd place by a mere 2 strokes over fellow countrywomen MGC Göttingen, who sailed into third place.

Minigolfnews.com correspondent Ida Hiltunen played for Manse RG Tampere (Finland) in the women's division and had this to say about the tournament, "The weather was great, very very hot and it meant maybe some extra job for coaches. It started to rain right after when all the players had finished their last round so we were lucky. The place was amazing! Absolutely the most beautiful place where I've played minigolf. The competition and everything around it were organized really great. This was the first ECup {European Cup} for me and it was nice to get to play in the same group with some really good players."

Pictures from the tournament can be found on Flickr and a video from the competition can be found on YouTube.

The event is promoted by the
European Minigolf Sport Federation (EMF) , which is the umbrella organization of 36 Minigolf sport associations Europe-wide. It is part of the World Minigolf Sport Federation.

The
World Minigolf Sport Federation (WMF) is the umbrella organization of 63 Minigolf sports associations worldwide with Continental Associations in Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Over 1,000 championships courses are approved for official competitions and over 1,500 international minigolf tournaments are held each year. Millions of players all around the world like to play minigolf as a private leisure activity and in public competitions.
