After having missed the title last year, Lars Brown and Peter Samuelsson, Uppsala, was this year back in the winning mode at the annual 24 hours marathon at the MunktellArena eternit course. The couple has won this competition seven times before and now they made 8 titles. This year 108 players from Sweden, Finland and UK was playing and 73 of them made green average.
In the end they were 5 strokes ahead of last year’s winners Peter Eisenschmidt and Pierre Zetterlund, Askim over the 24 laps played starting at 11 on Saturday morning.
In third place the Skoghall couple of Ulf Kristiansson and Filip Johansson one stroke behind silver position.
As always the Eskilstuna marathon is delivering lots of blue rounds and this time was no exception. The wining couple had a team average of 20,5 but that is historically not so impressive. In 2007-2009 the winning teams had blue average. When Ryner and Olsson won in 2009 the winning team result was actually as low as 18,96.
All in all 14 18 rounds was played and 1 double rounds of 36 by Zetterlund. Compared with two years ago when there was 33 18 rounds it seems like the lanes might have been a bit more tricky.
Best individually was Sundbybergs Mikael Nieminen and Askims Pierre Zetterlund at (19,9).
Noteworthy is also that UK player Mike Rutherford equalling the UK record of 20 in a single round and averaged 24,5 over ten rounds.
