The 28th annual Skywalk Golf minigolf competition in the city center of Des Moines (Iowa, USA) attracted some 925 people to play one of the two temporary minigolf courses (2 x 18 holes), which were set up along the indoor walking streets of the city center.
This tournament is probably the largest annual minigolf competition in the world, even though its number of participants has been steadily declining in recent years: the tournament attracted some 1800 players in 2009, 1500 players in 2010 and 2011, 1200 players in 2012, and now 925 players in 2013. Also the number of 18-hole minigolf courses used in the competition has been reduced from 4 to 2 during these years.
In the past the competition used to be organized by Downtown Community Alliance of Des Moines city. This year the tournament was organized for the first time by another non-profit organization, The First Tee of Greater Des Moines.» Website of the tournament
