Swiss championships 2008 were played at the small beton course of MC Willisau,
size 80% of the official standard. But despite the small size, the course
proved to be quite challenging, and only a few players achieved a green total score under
30.00.
Reto Sommer won gold in men’s competition, with average score
27.89.
A rising young star Cedric Mathys took silver, 3 points behind the winner,
with average
28.22.
Vitus Spescha got bronze, one point behind Mathys, with average
28.33.
Defending champion Remo Zaugg was 5th in the competition.
Winner in women’s competition was Anita Büttiker
with average 29.67,
one point ahead of Rita Ris
(average 29.78).
Sandra Wicki was third, 3 points behind Rita Ris, with average
30.00.
The best junior player was Joel Mumenthaler, the winner of schoolboys, with
average 29.89.
Gold medal in male juniors went to Nicolai Bhend with average score
30.33.
Swiss champion 2008 in female juniors is Bettina Bürki,
who played the same score as the winner of male juniors, average
30.33.
