Last weekend the yearly returning indoortournament of MGC de Houtduif has been played. The course was overloaded as never before with over 140 players during the 2 days of competition.
The tournament was played at a "mobile" MOS course based on the Dutch System which most international players might remember of the second course in Spoordonk where the European Team Cup of 2004 was played. The courses in Beuningen are around the same length as eternite courses but covered with carpet. All lanes are rebuild each time a tournament is played and moved to storage when the tournament is over. Each day a total of 4 rounds is played whereafter the best score counts.
Best player of the weekend was Wilbert van Helmond of MGC de Lubert with a total score of 108 shots. This is just 4 shots above the course record by Alex Jasper played in 2007. With this score Wilbert, of course, also won the senior category with a big gap to the 2nd place (Henk Goris - EMG de Putters 113). Belgium's Raymond Leemans (Rozemaai) came in 3rd with a total score of 116.
Two players tied at the first place in the men's category, both Joy Pol (MGC de Houtduif) and Alex Jasper needed a total score of 113 shots. Joy played this on saturday and Alex on sunday. After a sudden death it was Alex who took the gold. Rick Looman took the bronze medalist. Gold medalist in the women's category was Natasja Klarenbeek with a score of 115. Silver and bronze went to de Vrije Slag in the names of Katinka Laurens (120) and Paulien Tromp (123).
In the other categories the gold medal went to Greta Janssens from Rozemaai in Belgium (Women's seniors) and R. Nordmann from MGC de Lubert (Juniors) » Website MGC de Houtduif » Results of day 1 » Results of day 2
