Mees Bouwman winner of Dutch Ranking 2008

Netherlands 22 Jan 2009 at 15:46 | Published by: Tiek | Views: 11110 | News search  | source: FNMB

Mees Bouwman winner of Dutch Ranking 2008 Mees Bouwman, EMG de Putters, is the big winner of the 2008 final ranking in the Netherlands. This controversial ranking in the Netherlands includes the results of all official tournaments within the Dutch Federation (FNMB).

The ranking is seen as controversial due to use of a similar system as the WMF ranking. You can get points for each tournament, so the more tournaments you play, the higher your ranking can be. Players playing for foreign clubs are not included in this ranking.

Bouwman, a senior player who has been on top in the Netherlands for quite some years, won the ranking with a total points of 11350,50. This is 2605,50 points more then number two in the ranking, Wilbert van Helmond of MGV DUNO (8745 points). Henk Goris, gold medalist of the Senior European Championships of 2006, came in 3rd with a total of 7750 points.

The ranking in the womens category was surprisingly won by Wendy van Luypen of RMC de Holeridders with a total amount of 590 points. Number 2 of the world, Natasja Klarenbeek (MGC Geldrop), came in 2nd with 464 points followed by Annie Jasper of MGC Leeuwarden with 450,50 points.

MGC Appelscha became "club of the year" in the Netherlands. The team won almost everything in 2008. Behind Appelscha it was MGC Geldrop who took the 2nd place and EMG de Putters took the 3rd place.

Quite similar ranking logics are used also in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and WMF.

In France, we have also a ranking list but we took only the 7 best results of the year to etablish the ranking. We have a system to compare the result obtain on each course, and with this system, we modulate each result and we etablish a ranking after each tournament by tooking the 7 best result obtai since one year. For exemple, at themoment, we took the 7 best results obtain in France between the 22 january 2008 and today. I won a lot of time this ranking and of course, when a player win to much, the other players prefer to criticize the system instead of training mor to improve their results.

I'm yet to figure out what are rankings good for. Usually there's only one player, or at least one in each categorie, who thinks they're fair...
