An amateur player without official tour player status, Brandon Davis, played the lowest total score at PPA Southern Open in Martinez, Georgia, USA. Davis played total score 203 (average 25.38), 2 points better than the best pro players of PPA tour.
Four players were in tied points on top of the leaderboard in pro division, before the last hole of the competition. Rick Baird and Jay Klapper scored a hole-in-one at the last hole, continuing to a play-off over 18 extra holes. Brad Lebo and Kevin Lacey missed the last hole, and ended up tied for 3rd place in the pro division.
The play-off of 18 holes between Klapper and Baird offered many dramatic events, but no difference in total score at the end of the round. Finally in a sudden death play-off Jay Klapper proved better and took home the first prize in the pro division.
