The surprisingly winners of the 2010 years Swedish Cup is Sjöviken IF. The team from south Sweden is newcomer in Elitserien this summer and proved in the first major competition of the year that they will be a real challenger to the podium.
After having won their group in relatively ease, with real good average of 21,8, they won against 2 local West Swedish Teams before ending up against BGK Jönköping in the semifinal. It ended in a thrilling game where Sandra Weaver "only" had to ace 18 for a win for Jönköping. But she made an unlucky two resulting in a sudden death, where Sjöviken was the stronger team.
In the final Sjöviken meet the Elitserie rivals of Kungälv, who also had been playing impressive the whole tournament. Kungälv also won their group in relative ease using an even more impressive 21,3 team average. Kungälv won over Askim (in sudden death), by two strokes against Tuve and then with a margin of 6 strokes in the semifinal against last year’s winner Tantogården.
The final itself was maybe not so thrilling with an early advantage for Sjöviken. By an an almost errorless game the second half Sjöviken took the victory by 7 strokes (85 -92). Best in the winning team was Swedish national Team Junior Filip Johansson with an average of 20,5. The total average of Sjöviken in the cup play was was as low as 21,2.
Best individually was BGK Laxens Andreas Frejborn with the only blue average of (19,8) of the competition. Second best was Lennart Gustavsson (20,0) and third was Roger Niord (20,4).
