Last Sunday the fourth round of the Dutch league was played on the difficult beton course in Baarn. This time the weather was not something to complain about, but on this course it is hard to get aces.
Appelscha and Ridderkerk tried to make the competition interesting by making it harder for Geldrop to win. The first round was won by Appelscha with 126 strokes just before Geldrop 1 with 127 strokes. Ridderkerk had a difficult start with 132 strokes.
During the second round it went better with Ridderkerk and they won this round with 125 strokes just before Appelscha again with 126 strokes. Geldrop was on fifth place with 128 strokes.
In the third round Appelscha and Ridderkerk seemed to get away from Geldrop with scores of 128 and 131 against the total score of 136 by Geldrop 1. Also the team of Zoetermeer was better after a round with 125 strokes.
The standings after three rounds was:
1. Appelscha 380
2. Zoetermeer 383
3. Ridderkerk 388
4. Geldrop 1 391
The last round had to decide which team would win this match. Geldrop tried to do something about the big difference and they started furious with a round of 28 for Steven Steiger. Though his clubmate Chris Campfens ended up with a, for this course quite normal, score of 33, René Bos made the big difference, he made a new courserecord of 27. Natasja Klarenbeek ended with a score of 34 and that gace a total score of 122 strokes for Geldrop 1.
Because Appelscha needed 135 strokes (2 strokes to much), Ridderkerk 130 strokes (5 too much) and Zoetermeer 138 strokes, Geldrop miraculously won also this round of the LHK.
For the fourth time in a row Geldrop won a Dutch league weekend and is almost certain to be the new champion with 32 points before Ridderkerk and Appelscha with 24 points. Next match will be in june on the felt courses of Appelscha.
