Last weekend the Dutch team championships was organised on the felt course of MGC Appelscha. Since the changes a few years back only the ladies teams played for a ticket to the European Cup 2010 in Vienna. On Saturday 5 rounds were played and on Sunday only for rounds due to the rain.
From the beginning the men team of Appelscha 1 was by far the strongest team. After the first two rounds the difference was already 20 strokes with Geldrop. After the first day Appelscha 1 lead by almost 50 strokes before Geldrop 962-1011.
On Sunday Geldrop tried to do something to close the gap. The first round on sunday they won with 199-213, but lost the second round with 211-205. The third round was won by Geldrop with 210-223. But this didn't seem enough because the last round was won by Appelscha again, now with 200-220. This ment that the gold went to Appelscha 1 with 1803 strokes. The silver was for Geldrop with 1851 strokes and the bronze medal was for the second team of Appelscha with 1896 strokes.
At the ladies just 2 teams competing. The ladies team of Leeuwarden won their first round of Appelscha on Saturday with 101-105. The second and third round were won by Appelscha with 106-113 and 107-108, making it a close game between the two teams. Leeuwarden, with National team players Natasja Klarenbeek, Annie Jasper and Ingrid v/d Laan, were forced to put the bar higher and also did this - all the other rounds were won by Leeuwarden.
The scores were not so good, but after nine rounds the difference was more then 70 strokes. Leeuwarden won with 969 strokes against 1041. This means that the women of Leeuwarden are qualified for the European Cup in Vienna in October. » Results
